The list of dogs can go on forever, but here are a couple of them.

1. German Shepherd

German shepherds originated in Germany. Since german shepherds are strong, intelligent, trainable, and obedient, they are used as working dogs. Back then, they were used to herd sheep but now they are used for search-and-rescues and they are used as military and police dogs. German shepherds are the second-most popular dog in the United States and the fourth-most popular dog in the United Kingdom.

2. Beagle

Beagles originated in Great Britain and they have existed for over 2,000 years. They are scent hounds, they have a great sense of smell so they are used for tracking hare, rabbit, deer, and other small game. They are also used as detection dogs for prohibited agricultural imports. Beagles are intelligent but single-minded.

3. Siberian Husky

Siberian Huskies originated in Siberia, Russia. They are an active, energetic, and resilient breed. Their ancestors came form the harsh conditions of the Siberian Artic. They are used to pull heavy loads long distances in the harsh conditions (ie. snow). But eventually they became pets and show dogs.

4. Yorkshire Terrier

The yorkshire terrier originated in Yorkshire, England. They were initially used to catch rats in clothing mills. They are a maximum of 7 pounds and they are nicknamed Yorkie.
